Due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation and the fact that two immediate family members now have long term health conditions we have made the difficult decision to remain closed this season. This is for the health and safety of our family and also our guests. We will reopen when it is safe to do so. Please check back here for regular updates.
The most recent Welsh Government Review was on the 18th February and concluded the whole of Wales will remain at Alert Level 4. This means everyone must stay at home, work from home wherever possible. All non essential retail, hospitality and tourism, licenced premises and leisure facilities therefore remain closed. No non essential journeys are permitted.
The next Welsh Government review is on Friday 12th March. We are awaiting further details on when we can safely re-open.
Our provisional reopening date is currently Saturday 1st May. This is subject to Welsh Government Regulations. We are therefore only taking provisional bookings and expressions of interest only.
In association with Visit Wales - We're good to Go! We have undertaken our Covid risk assessments and are prepared to deliver the best holiday experience we can. Things wont be quite like the "normal" Gyrn Ddu Camping experience, but we have an will continue to work hard to ensure risks are kept to a minimum. We look forward to seeing you very soon!
The Welsh First Minister has confirmed that tourism businesses with self-contained accommodation with no shared facilities will be allowed to reopen from 11.07.20. This is fantastic news for our glamping element. We will be reopening our 2 glamping structures from 17.07.20. Both structures will have their own individual compost toilet, shower and kitchen tent and we will implement strict Covid-19 health, safety and hygiene procedures in order to reduce the spread of the virus and keep our guests, community and ourselves safe.
As our camping pitches rely on shared shower, toilet and washing up facilities we will sadly not be opening them this season. We appreciate that this will come as a blow for our customers and those looking to book with us in July and August. This is so that we can achieve compliance with the new strict Covid-19 health and safety regulations and keep our guests, family and local community safe. If you have a tent pitch booking with us in July and August please get in touch so we can discuss alternative options. We are taking bookings for 2021 though.
We will be implementing the following new Health, Safety and Hygiene Protocols;
We have sought advice from our insurers, North Wales Tourism and legislative bodies and as our camping pitches rely on shared shower, toilet and washing up facilities we will sadly not be opening them this season.
From the 13th July we may be able to open our 2 glamping structures (pending a final decision by the Welsh Government on the 9th July). These will be fully equipped (minus the wood-burning stove for ease of deep cleaning) and have a private, standalone toilet and shower and kitchen. Only a maximum of 10 guests will be allowed onsite at any one time. We will be following a rigorous health, safety and hygiene routine to ensure the health of our guests, community and ourselves is our main priority.
From the Wales.Gov website:
"Preparations are underway to safely reopen the visitor economy including self-contained accommodation and outdoor attractions. A decision will be taken about this at the next review on the regulations on 9th July. You will not be able to take a holiday in Wales until any changes have been made to the law. If a change to the law is made it is likely to take effect on 13th July. The definition as drafted is any accommodation that is entirely self-contained e.g. holiday cottages, holiday caravans, including modern touring caravans and motorhomes and some glamping accommodation with their own kitchens and bathrooms that no other guests use"
We are reading this as we can open - but only subject to all facilities being self contained. This means that we can only open pitches which do not use "shared facilities" which restricts us to only opening our 2 glamping structures so that they will have individual toilet, shower and kitchen facilities for their own use.
All shared facilities such as the army tent, washing up station and shower/toilet trailer will remain closed. This restriction may be in place until August therefore will not be taking any camping bookings in July.
Currently we are not able to open our camping pitches for the foreseeable future as they rely on shared toilet, shower and washing up facilities. The next Welsh Government review is on the 09.07.2020
